Strengthening the platform through collaboration

  • e-Therapeutics has formed collaborations with two artificial intelligence (AI) companies, Intellegens and Biorelate to enhance its in silico drug discovery capabilities.
  • Intellegens, a Cambridge University spin-out, has developed an AI method for training neural networks from incomplete data. A challenge for e-Therapeutics is that much of the data on a biological system is sparse, similarly there is often only limited information about which proteins a compound can interact with. This collaboration should enable e-Therapeutics to make better use of the data it does have, so it can build better in silico disease models and subsequently better identify compounds that can disrupt the disease network.
  • Biorelate, a Manchester University spin-out, has developed a way of creating databases based on the analysis of published literature. This should allow e-Therapeutics to obtain better quality data on biological systems, thereby improving its in silico disease models
  • Pilot studies were successfully conducted with both companies prior to the collaborations being formed.
  • No financial details have been disclosed.

Trinity Delta view: Drug discovery using AI, machine learning and other computational techniques is a rapidly evolving field, and the success of e-Therapeutics depends on it remaining a leading player in the field. These collaborations should enhance the company’s network-driven drug discovery (NDD) capabilities, and improve the likelihood that it is able to sign one or more drug discovery alliances in the coming year. We value e-Therapeutics at £53.8m or 20.4p/share.
